Race for Life attracts thousands (with video and slideshow)
More than 2,000 women runners pounded the paths around Preston's Moor Park to help raise more than £126,000 for charity.
The annual Race for Life event, in aid of Cancer Research UK, saw the runners complete a 5k circuit around the park under overcast skies on Sunday morning.
Gema Adams, 26, of Fulwood, who was competing with team-mates from the Preston Grasshoppers' women's rugby team, won the race in 17 minutes.
Event manager Nelson Laurencia said that more than 700,000 women had registered for races across the country raising millions for the charity which last year spent 70m on trials for cancer medicines, including 25 in the Preston area.

He said: "For a everyone who took part, the Race for Life is more than just a walk, a jog or a run, it is a memory of someone they know who they have lost or has been touched by cancer."
Some runners even dressed up with some taking part as pantomime horses, Madonna and Kylie Minogue as well as the usual array of fairies and witches.
The race was started by nine-year-old Dayna Green, of Fishwick, Preston, who got a round of applause from the runners after they were told of her successful battle against leukaemia.
