Fast typing resulted in a weekend of fast driving for a lucky competition winner.
Alex Smith, 22, from Freckleton, near Preston, put his typing skills to the test when he entered a competition run by car company Peugeot and being quick on the keyboard lead to “a once in a lifetime experience”.
The former Car Hill High School pupil was flown to Germany with his pal Alex Brown from Bolton for an all expenses paid trip focused around driving the new Peugeot RCZ R.
Alex said: “The competition was on Twitter where players had to race a Peugeot RCZ R to the finish line by tweeting a 140 character tweet given by the game as fast as possible.
“The top 40 were entered into a draw and I was the first to be picked from the UK.
“The prize was a weekend to Germany to drive the new Peugeot RCZ R, a visit to the VLN Race at the Nurburgring on Saturday and it finished on the Sunday with a lap of the Nurburgring in the RCZ R.”
Because the pair are used driving right hand drive vehicles Peugeot had race driver Bradley Philpot drive an English RCZ R to Germany.
Alex, who works as an IT consultant added: We got to experience a tour around the Nurburgring on Saturday visiting some of the best viewpoints, but the best part was having the chance to walk around the starting grid and pit lanes of the VLN race.
“The weekend was absolutely amazing – a one in a lifetime experience.
“I can honestly say it was the best experience of my life, the lap of the RCZ R with Brad was sensational and he is a really talented driver and we feel honoured he was our driver.”
