Quiet night for fire crews as Storm Frank winds hit Morecambe and Lancaster

Morecambe and Lancaster fire services both had quiet nights as strong winds from Storm Frank battered the district.

Both crews had no incidents of note to report from Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Winds reached speeds of up to 52mph in Morecambe on Wednesday but were due to drop as the day progressed.

Heavy rain on Wednesday morning was also due to ease by the afternoon.

The Met Office issued a severe weather warning but this was expected to be lifted by mid-afternoon.

Morecambe Area Police called in extra officers to work from Tuesday at 7pm until Wednesday at 7am, to provide cover in case of storm related incidents.
