LANCASHIRE residents have reported feeling two earthquakes that occurred under the Irish Sea.
The British Geological Survey said the first quakes had a 2.4 magnitude on the Richter Scale, and occurred at 5.37am on Sunday, at a depth of 1.8 miles, 15 miles west of Fleetwood.
The second measured magnitude 3.3. It was recorded at 9.58am at a depth of 3 miles.
Residents of Blackpool and Fleetwood said they felt their homes shaking, though no damage or injuries have been reported.
According to the Richter Scale, both earthquakes are “minor”, meaning they can be felt, but do not cause damage.
Earthquakes are caused by the movement of the earth’s plates.
