A dog owner sold his prized motocross bike to pay for his puppy’s emergency operation after the dog was badly hurt in a hit and run.
Keelo, a six-month-old Rottweiler, was lucky to survive after he was struck by a car on Westgate in Morecambe.

The puppy was flung 10ft in the air, then run over and dragged by a car.
Keelo’s devastated owner, Kyle Bailey, 18, of Westgate, said: “I have sold my motocross bike for £800 to go towards the cost of the operation and vets’ fees.
“My dog went up in the air and the car carried on rolling over him. I was very shocked and so mad at the driver, who didn’t stop.
“Everything is a blur. A man offered me a lift home with Keelo and he was rushed to the vet.
“The vet said if it had been 15 minutes later, then the shock and the fear would have killed him.
“He has had an operation but he just needs the motivation to stand now. Keelo is like a child to me, he is my baby.
“I just want justice for him.
“A Go Fund page on the Vets4Pets Facebook page has already raised £470.
“I just want to thank everyone, from the man who gave me a lift home, to everyone who has donated money.
“I’m so grateful.”
Kyle’s mum, Vikki, who has three other children, said: “We didn’t think he was going to make it.
“He was hurled 10ft in the air and the car ran over him and dragged him up Westgate.
“The police are involved because it has been classed as a hit and run.
“The car was a red Audi A1 or A2. Keelo had cuts and bruises and his leg has come away from his hip joint.
“He was in theatre for four hours having his hip pinned. The vet said he had never seen a break like that in a dog, his leg was broken in three places.
“It’s heartbreaking and we are all devastated but people have been amazing.”
Police said the dog received critical injuries in the hit and run, at 7.15pm on March 19. Call them on 101 with information. Visit www.gofundme.com/pe6v3k to donate.
