A SEVERELY flooded school is finally back on its feet after a month of refurbishment.

Kirkland and Catterall Primary School saw all of its pupils back at the school for the first time since early December after the school found itself under 2ft of water during Storm Desmond.

The school was forced to close on Monday, December 7, for three days and then taught children using facilities at Garstang High School as the school began its clean up operation.

Headteacher Michelle Southern said: “It’s great to have the children back in the school and everyone has worked really hard to get us back on our feet.

“The school was badly affected and we’ve had to have the carpets refitted as well as replacing a lot of the contents in the classrooms.

“Luckily, it hasn’t disrupted us too much and that’s all down to the hardworking teachers we have here.

“Everyone has been really impressed with how quickly we’ve turned it around although there’s still some things we need to sort out.”

“I just want to thank everyone for all their support, kind messages and best wishes over the past few weeks.”
