A long-serving pub landlord has been recognised for his services to Preston’s nightlife.
Ronnie Fitzpatrick, who ran the Dog and Partridge on Friargate, collected the Special Recognition Award for his services to the city’s licensed trade over more than forty years, at the Alive After Five Awards.
The prize-giving event, run by Preston’s Business Improvement District (BID), was held in front of a crowd of more than 200 members of the night-time trade at Evoque on Tuesday.
Other prizes went to cocktail bar Kuckoo which landed Bar of the Year, Baluga which won Club of the Year, Roper Hall which picked up Pub of the Year and East Z East which won Restaurant of the Year.
BID spokesman Mark Whittle said: “Picking up an Alive After Five award has a special significance because all our winners are selected by the people who visit these establishments every day of the week.
“The BID then went a step further and made ‘mystery shopper’ visits to each of our venue finalists and judged them on the service they provided. We received more than 32,000 votes this year which shows the popularity not just of these awards but of Preston’s night scene. The awards are designed to drive up standards and promote Preston’s offer and have been embraced by businesses and by the public.”
Evoque collected two prizes with waitress Sophie Prytharch named Waitress of the Year and manager Leigh Sweetman named Venue Manager of the Year, while Stratos collected the Entertainment Venue of the Year prize.
DJ John Gillmore and former Big Brother contestant Luke Marsden hosted the ceremony.
