Peaceful surroundings for spacious family home
This deceptively spacious, traditional style, three bedroomed, semi-detached house is in a quiet crescent with access to Hurst Grange park.
1 What appealed to you most about the property?
The spacious living area, the original storage cupboards and easy access into Hurst Grange Park. It’s a real plus and we’re within a 10-minute walk of the shops, doctors, library etc. We were expecting our first child when we moved here and so practically it works well for getting out and about.
2 How long have you lived in the property?
Nearly six years. Since the house was built in the 50s only two other people have lived here, which says a lot about the house and neighbourhood. People like the street and tend to stay.
3 What have you done to the house since moving into the property?
We’ve put in a new central heating boiler, soffits, fascias and guttering, created a utility area which is now plumbed for appliances. Re-landscaped the front and back garden and stocked it with new plants. We’ve laid a new floor in the kitchen and utility. We’ve also decorated and carpeted throughout (all within the last two months). We’ve recently restored the old art deco doors that divide the lounge from the dining room and these now give the option for living in different ways. The bathroom has been upgraded to include a shower and the loft has had extra insulation and been boarded for easy storage.
The house is well insulated and has cavity wall insulation. We’ve had Magic Eye installed which enables Sky TV to be watched upstairs in the master bedroom. The house is at a high standard for the next person who buys it.
4 Why are you selling?
We love our house, but have the renovation bug and so are looking to renovate another house from scratch.
5 What is your favourite room and why?
We really like the hall, because it is a light, big and spacious space and provides a lot of storage, but we really like the bedroom too, because it is 16ft and has a really nice bay window. A nice place to retreat to at the end of the day.
6 What will you miss most about moving?
The peace and quiet of the road and the neighbours, who we’ll miss a great deal.
The road is nice and safe, ideal with a five year old who likes to ride her bike.
So many streets are packed with cars after 5pm and we think its a real advantage that the street is so quiet. Because it’s a crescent, the only traffic is people who live here.
7 How close are the amenities?
On foot, five-10 minutes from Booths and Sainsburys, 10 minutes to Penwortham centre and five minutes to the park.
8 To whom would this property be best suited?
Couples starting a family, mature couples, single professionals or small families. The house isn’t overlooked and the back garden is low maintenance.
