Victorian splendour in the heart of the city

This beautiful Victorian townhouse is in the heart of Preston close to Winckley Square.

The home, on Bank Parade, was built around 1848 and is Grade II listed.

It is conveniently located for access to the newly renovated Avenham Park, shopping centres, bus routes and the train station.

The house has an open day tomorrow, Saturday, November 24 between 1pm and 4pm.

The property has been finished to a contemporary standard yet still maintains many of the original features.

It includes a lounge, hand built breakfast kitchen, cellar, 24ft master bedroom, shower room and two further bedrooms, one of which is on the second floor with en suite.

Outside, there is a rear private courtyard garden, and well sized lawned garden to the front.

1 What appealed to you most about the property?

An excellent spacious and light Grade 2 Listed building and large garden which is a rarity in the city centre.

Located next to Avenham Park and within walking distance to all facilities and amenities.

Bank Parade is a quiet area without any passing traffic .

2 How long have you lived in the property?

We have lived here for 12 years having previously lived in Fulwood. I have found the area to be peaceful and a wonderful place to have lived in and raised a family .

3 What have you done to the house since moving into the property?

The loft was converted into an additional bedroom and study are. The kitchen was hand built, the floor boards were replaced with solid white oak, additional antique radiators were installed.

The cellar was damp coursed and used for additional bedrooms and study areas.

The garden and courtyard have been renovated into valuable recreation space. The garden has become my son and myself’s pitch and putt golf course.

4 Why are you selling?

The plan is to relocate to Weymouth.

5 What is your favourite room and why?

The kitchen and living room which is very much the centre of the home. With a special mention to the courtyard during the summer months, sitting outside and having a barbeque.

6 What will you miss most about moving?

Living so close to the city centre and knowing most people who live in the neighbourhood and probably having one of the largest bedrooms in Preston.

7 How close are the amenities?

Avenham Park is at the end of the street, the train station is five minutes walk away and the centre of Preston is less than quarter of a mile away.

8 To whom would this property be best suited?

I would say to a person or family who enjoys living in a period property, close to the amenities and the park.
