Councillors urged to reject housing

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Plans for a new housing estate in Kirkham look set to be rejected by councillors on Wednesday.

Bloor Homes North West and Cornheath Estates are seeking planning permission for up to 140 new homes on land at Little Tarn Brick Farm on Blackpool Road.

Kirkham Town Council has objected to the scheme, amid concerns about the impact on roads, the use of agricultural land and claims there is no demonstrable local need for the houses.

Three other local parish councils and five neighbours also wrote to Fylde Council with concerns.

Planners have recommended the council’s development management committee reject the scheme at its meeting.

A planning report advises councillors the development would not be near an established residential area and was unlikely to be seen as sustainable.
