Preston-based ‘paedophile hunter’ Stinson Hunter has helped secure the conviction of a bookmaker who tried to chat up a 13-year-old girl on the internet.

Martin Scott Currier, 51, of St Marks Drive, Wellington, Shropshire, was found guilty yesterday of attempting to meet a child after sexual grooming.

However the 13-year-old girl he thought he was talking to online was actually Preston-based Hunter, who has made a career of using sting operations to catch paedophiles.

Police in Preston are currently investigating two men, one a church volunteer, who Hunter says were attempting to meet teenage girls.

Former solicitor Currier will be sentenced on March 26 at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
