Preston-based Conlon Construction has played its part in inducting the legendary Preston North End Invincibles into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame.

The annual awards ceremony, which took place on in Manchester, hosted some of the biggest names in football including Alan Shearer, Michael Owen and Trevor Francis.

Conlon was quick to pledge its support, with chairman Michael Conlon describing the Preston Invincibles as “one of the greatest ever teams”.

The Invincibles team was honoured for being the first winner of the Football League, having remained unbeaten all season, along with a record that saw them score more than 1,500 goals over six seasons, whilst clocking a success rate of more than 90 per cent. PNE club secretary Ben Rhodes collected the team award on behalf of the Invincibles, which was presented by sponsor Michael Conlon and BBC commentator, Mark Lawrenson.

Michael comments: “We’re proud to have been part of an award that recognises the outstanding achievements of some of the most remarkable legends to have ever graced the beautiful game.”
