Preston-based Conlon Construction has started work on a state-of-the-art private hospital in Ashford, Kent.

The £30m facility will comprise 10 consulting rooms, four theatres, four treatment rooms, an endoscopy suite, 20 en-suite rooms, 10 ambulatory care beds and an MRI and imaging suite.

We are delighted that our vision is coming to life with the help of our contractor and are looking forward to seeing the plans come to fruition.

Situated adjacent to the local NHS hospital, the two-storey hospital will provide a level of healthcare unrivalled locally.

Funded by Octopus Healthcare, One Ashford Hospital will be managed by a team which over the years has funded, developed and operated more than 50 private hospital units.

Adrian Stevenson, chief executive of One Healthcare, said: “Our clear objective is to provide the very best level of care, delivered by leading consultants, within purpose-built and strategically-located hospital facilities across the UK.

“One Ashford Hospital has been modelled on innovative surgery and diagnostic centres in America and Australasia and will incorporate technology and design features aimed specifically at enhancing the patients’ experience.

“We are delighted that our vision is coming to life with the help of our contractor and are looking forward to seeing the plans come to fruition.”

Michael Conlon, chairman at Conlon Construction, said: “We’re very pleased to have been appointed to this project and to be delivering a facility which will revolutionise healthcare in the county.

“The hospital, designed by One Healthcare in conjunction with the project architects, William Clarke Partnership, will be spacious and include a number of health-promoting elements that will provide patients with comfortable surroundings and encourage faster recovery times.”
