An under-fire bar in the centre of Preston has had its licence revoked.

Macs bar, in Friargate, Preston, faced a review by council chiefs of its premises licence, which began on Thursday last week.

Six days after the start of the hearing, it has been announced that the licence has been revoked.

Police had raised concerns alleging incidents of under-age drinking, excessive drinking and overcrowding.

An explanation of the council’s decision to revoke the licence has yet to be published.

The bar was shut down a month ago over concerns about disorder outside at closing time.

Owner Andrew McDonald - known as Andy Mac - won an appeal over the decision at Preston Crown Court, but a separate Preston Council premises licence review was held last week.
