Preston’s West Indian community is ralling round to help the people of Dominica, after it was ravaged by a tropical storm.
On the Flag Market on Saturday from 9am to 5pm, there will be a pop-up donation stall, collecting non-perishable food and clothing.
Organiser Davina Allen said: “It’s a dire situation over there and these people need our help.
“We’re not asking for money donations, but for items that we can box up and ship out to Dominica to help.
“My mum was from Dominica and I know that if she was still here, she’d want to do something to help.”
Twelve people are confimed dead and 22 more are missing after storm Erika wreaked havoc on the island on August 27.
It was the country’s worst disaster in 40 years and repair bills are expected to reach in excess of £130m.
