Andrew Stephenson, the MP for Pendle, has tweeted in response to the referendum, appealing for voters on both sides to unite and create a ‘global outlook’ on Brexit.

The Tory MP was a staunch supporter of the Leave campaign, and in the wake of Brexit’s success in the referendum, which saw Remain lose by four per cent, has tweeted, calling for the government “to implement the wishes of people in a calm considered way.”

He also tweeted: “We need to unite people around a new global, rather than regional, outlook that both Leavers & Remainers can accept #EUref #Brexit” on his official Twitter account.

The MP later retweeted a tweet praising the former Conservative Prime Minister, David Cameron - who has since resigned - for ‘offering stability while the country plots its course’, claiming he was ‘honorable to the last’.
