Police oppose mass pub crawl plans
Thousands of students from Preston, dressed as porn stars, are set to invade bars and clubs as part of a giant pub crawl.
But not everyone is pleased with the city being chosen as a starting point for the event called Carnage UK which is expected to attract up to 3,000 students from the University of Central Lancashire.
A senior police officer and the Students' Union have criticised the plans.
More than 1,000 people have already signed up to a social networking site webpage about the event.
Some have left comments about how they passed out and ended up in hospital after the last Carnage event they went to.
Insp Steve Evans, of Preston city centre police, said: "It's not a good idea.
"These are 18-year-old kids, usually coming away from home for the first time, and they are not used to that level of consumption.
"It's not illegal to have a pub crawl but I would prefer it would not take place."
