Officers and staff from Lancashire Constabulary’s Public Protection (PPU) department have been collecting festive food and gifts for a Leyland charity.

The M3 Project offers housing to young people in the South Ribble area who are homeless or at risk of having nowhere to live.

PPU members, based in Hutton, have collected tinned food, chocolate, biscuits, soup and a variety of other gifts which have been donated to the charity.

The items have been boxed up for delivery on Christmas Day.

Organiser Lynne Asbridge said: “We are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile charity and colleagues have been ever so generous and collected literally hundreds of items.

“I think it is important to always think about others at Christmas and I know that the young people will be so grateful for their gifts.”

PPU have also secured a bid for £1,500 to help the M3 Project to replenish its household furniture and goods stock.
