Police are trying to trace a man following a night-time burglary at a property behind the clubhouse of Shaw Hill Golf Club in Whittle-le-Woods near Chorley.

Officers have released a CCTV image of the suspect they believe gained entry to a house in Spinney Close and made off with property worth almost £1,000.

They also want to talk to him about two more incidents around the same time on a nearby road. A car on Harvest Drive was opened and cash stolen from the glove compartment. And moments later in the space road a Mercedes car was stolen.

PC Paul Harrison, of Chorley Police, said: “We are keen to speak to the man pictured as we believe that he could help us with our enquiries. Anyone with information should contact police on 101.” The burglary happened some time between 3am and 5am on Thursday August 28. Someone gained entry to the house in Spinney Close via the rear door and left with an iPhone, a laptop, a handbag and cash. It is thought a car on the driveway was also searched, but nothing was taken.

On Harvest Drive, on the opposite side of the main A6 Chorley to Preston road, an Audi A5 car was targeted and some loose change taken from the glove compartment.

Then it is believed another property was entered and the keys to a black Mercedes E-Class car taken. The vehicle was driven away and was last seen travelling on the eastbound carriageway of the M60 between junctions 16 and 17 at around 5.15am that same day.
