PNE stars chat with young fans

Preston North End manager Paul Simpson and player Sean St Ledger were grilled by a group of youngsters about the highs and lows of working in football.

The youngsters, aged between 16 to 25, are doing a Prince's Trust course to help them find work.

As part of the project, they were invited to North End's ground and asked the sportsmen about their childhood dreams, working in football and how they stay focused and healthy.

Leanne Cooper, 17, of Leyland and Sarah Richardson, 17, of Avenham, both attended.

Leanne said: "Seeing a press conference in action has been great and made me think about looking into photography as a career."

Sarah said: "I thought it was brilliant seeing the players and I really enjoyed myself."

Preston North End gave the group a stadium tour, a talk on ethnic diversity, a work placement for one of the youngsters and tickets to the Southampton game earlier in the week.

Last year, four in five young people on the course went onto education, employment or training.
