PNE boss Alan reveals his Barca dream

Signing Steven Gerrard and managing Barcelona were just some of topics covered when North End manager Alan Irvine dropped into a Longridge school.

The Lilywhites boss visited Alston Lane Catholic Primary School, Preston Road, to hand out match tickets to lucky children and answer their questions.

When asked do you think you can get Preston promoted this year, he said: "It would be fantastic if we did. It's going to be difficult, we're close to the play-off positions but we need other teams to lose. I think they will lose points, it's just whether we can get enough points ourselves. We've got a chance."

Alan was asked 10 questions by the children, including what his dream job and signing for PNE would be.

He said: "I am really happy managing Preston North End. Will I ever get the opportunity to manage anywhere else? I don't know, but I'd love to be the manager of Barcelona."

And of Liverpool skipper Gerrard, the former Toffees assistant manager joked: "Don't tell Evertonians I said Steven Gerrard! He's a brilliant player."

The visit was arranged as part of Alan's sponsorship deal with DWF LLP solicitors, Winckley Square.
