Pledge to boost county tourism

Tourism chiefs have pledged to redouble their efforts to promote Lancashire as a destination in 2014.

Ruth Connor, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire, said; “Our goal is to increase the number of both short breaks and day visits to Lancashire, with an increased focus on generating growth in business tourism, as well as leisure tourism, which already attracts over 62 million visitors per year.”

Ms Connor added: “Marketing Lancashire’s role will be to strengthen Lancashire’s strategic case, refreshing the area’s offer to attract new investors, businesses and visitors.

“Our aim in 2014 is to project a strong, confident and ambitious voice for Lancashire, encouraging growth and positive economic impact by an increased engagement level with both the public and private sectors.”
