Pleasure Beach to charge £5 admission

Thrill-seekers going to Britain's favourite free tourist attraction will have to pay a £5 admission charge to get in from next year.

The fun park - Lancashire's top tourist attraction - will introduce the charges from 2009.

The move ends more than a century of tradition at the seaside theme park.

Visitors will either have to purchase an unlimited ride wristband or a 5 Freedom Pass.

Pleasure Beach managing director Amanda Thompson said: "At Pleasure Beach we are always looking to add value to our customers' experiences, the introduction of the Freedom Pass will allow us to do this and ensure that we can continue to improve the overall visitor experience at the park."
