A new takeaway could open up in the building of a former florist.

An application has been lodged with Preston Council to convert a retail shop into a hot food takeaway on Floyd Road in Ribbleton.

The applicant also wants to install an extraction flue to the side of the building.

A design and access statement said the site was currently redundant and had been empty for about two years, with the last known use being a florist.

It said the applicant plans to refurbish the premises and “provide a valuable facility for the local community”.

It said: “The surrounding area is predominantly residential with some existing commercial use in which a large majority are families who would benefit highly from the facility proposed.”

A decision on the full application for change of use is due to be made under delegated powers.
