Patients are sent wrong medical details
An angry Lancashire dad has hit out at bungling office staff who got sensitive medical files mixed up.
Chris Martin, 45, sent off a dossier of highly personal information as he negotiated his return to work following illness.
But staff at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) returned his file full of someone else's details, including her medical reports and National Insurance number.
Chris a married father of two, of Goulding Avenue in Leyland, said: "I can read her illnesses, which hospital she has been in and what treatments she has had.
"It is a big document, there are 16 pages.
"On the first page it has my name and details, then after that I can read her appeal.
"No doubt she could be reading my information, it is incredible."
Chris, who used to work as an engineer, building buses and trains, said he had suffered a mental breakdown but was looking to get back to work part-time.
He sent off a large amount of personal information to show he was only currently capable of working for 15 hours a week, all of which is now missing.
He said: "I could open a bank account or credit card and somebody could be doing the same thing with my information now.
"It is upsetting thinking what could happen with my information."
A spokesman for the DWP said: "We have apologised to both the people involved in the wrong papers mistakenly being sent with their letters.
"We understand the importance of making sure people's information is properly dealt with and endeavour to make sure incidents of this sort do not happen."
