Pathways work gets a green light

Plans to refurbish the pathways between Worden Arts Centre and the Walled Garden in Leyland’s Worden Park have been given the green light.

South Ribble Council’s neighbourhood services had put forward a listed building consent application to the planning committee for the work, which has now been granted permission.

The driveway is currently asphalt and will be replaced with a like-for-like surface, while the areas around the cottage and garden will be gravel and grass. The work will be carried out at the same time as the job to finish off the surfacing around the Arts and Crafts Centre courtyards during the summer months.

Work to extend the car park has also started. The permanent overflow car park, positioned next to the existing one on the fields, will create 164 extra spaces.

, on top of the 100 currently available. The grass is being reinforced with a heavy duty, grass reinforcement system, allowing use in the same way as hard surfaced parking areas, but to retain the visual appearance of the grass.
