Orphans need help from you

The search is on for Lancashire volunteers to help build a house for orphaned children in Kenya.

The ambitious plans have been put forward by international development charity Hands Around the World.

The organisation has carried out various development projects in Nyumbani, Kenya, in a bid to make it into a self-sufficient village.

The charity is based in Gloucestershire but it has targeted volunteers from Lancashire to go as a group to Kenya for one month in June 2008.

Each person who goes on the trip has to raise 2,000 to cover costs.

Jim Hunt, 51, of Church Lane, Charnock Richard, near Chorley, and his wife Jean 50, completed a three-month stint in Kenya with the charity in July and they are planning to go back next year.

If you are interested in joining the team there will be meetings in Chorley on Friday at the Hartwood Hotel at 7.30pm and Saturday at St Lawrence Church Rooms at 3.30pm.
