Opera singer cured after losing voice

A Preston opera singer who lost his voice to a mystery illness has revealed how he was miraculously cured – by the warming hands of a healer.

Singer Dave Salter, of Ashton, said the deterioration in his voice baffled dozens of doctors and forced him off stage for six years.

Desperate, and with no cure in sight, he rang reiki energy healer Mary Curtis.

After just one session, he claims he saw an amazing improvement.

And now, after two more sessions with the Penwortham-based healer, he is ready to step back into the limelight and pick up the microphone at a charity concert in aid of St Catherine's Hospice.

Dave was working on the principal role in Aida with Preston Opera back in 2001 when he noticed his trusty voice faltering – to the extent that he could hardly sing a note.

Specialists had several theories about his mystery illness but no diagnosis was ever made.

Dave said: "I lost count of how many specialists and consultants I saw and I spent a small fortune trying to establish what was wrong.

"Doctors put forward various theories such as suggesting I had asthma, or that I wasn't using my voice properly.

"But these were ridiculous.

"As I love singing so much it affected me badly and I felt quite depressed."

Dave made an appointment to see Mrs Curtis, who describes herself as a clairvoyant, medium, psychic healer and reiki master.

Dave said: "Mary's theory was that 'mischannelled' energy had affected my voice and she used her hands to 'heal' me.

"You could feel the heat coming from her hands.

"My voice started to improve after just one session and, after a couple of top-up sessions, I feel confident about singing again.

"I have no idea how it worked, but whatever Mary did, it cured my voice and I am so grateful to her.

"I just wish I had gone to her in the first place instead of

wasting six years on doctors and specialists."

Mary Curtis, 40, runs her own healing practice called www.marypsychichealer.co.uk.

She said: "His energies were unbalanced in the throat so I sorted it out.

"I gave him back the feel good factor. I have always been able to see energies since I was a little girl but I thought everybody could see them.

"It was only when I was with my ex-partner a few years ago that I realised they couldn't.

"I cured one guy who had ulcerated eyes and treated three ladies who were infertile that then had children."

Dave will perform at An Evening of Memorable Music at the Lancastrian Suite at Chorley Town Hall on Wednesday February 6.

The event will start at 7.30pm. Admission is 7.50. Proceeds will go to St Catherine's Hospice.
