One Golden night at 53 Degrees as students honour best of the best

Last week the 5th Annual UCLan Students’ Union Golden Roses Teaching Awards evening was held at 53 Degrees on the Preston Campus.

The evening was a great success, with more than 200 staff and students attending to celebrate excellence across UCLan and its Partner Institutions.

This year’s Students’ Union Teaching Awards received a record breaking 1,437 nominations across our various awards.

There were 11 awards up for grabs, and the winners are listed below.

Lecturer of the Year:

Nicola Nunn (School of Education and Social Science)

The Professional Services Staff Member of the Year Award

Anita Newman (Inclusive Learning, Myerscough College)

Best Course Team of the Year:

TESOL (School of Language, Literature and International Studies)

Best University Service of the Year:

Flying Start (Student and Academic Support Service)

Personal Tutor of the Year: Isobel Colclough (School of Forensic and Investigative Sciences)

School of the Year:

Lancashire Law School

Most Innovative Teaching of the Year:

Darren Tunstall (School of Art, Design and Performance)

Outstanding Feedback Award: Abdelbarry Elhissi (School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences)

Real World Learning Award:

Emma McAndry (Lancashire Law School)

Inclusivity Award:

Patricia Byrne-Roberts (School of Education and Social Science)

Postgraduate Support Award:

Catherine Frances (School of Language, Literature and International Studies)
