On your mark for Pram Race

All aboard: A group of Vikings with their longship get ready to tackle the race

All aboard: A group of Vikings with their longship get ready to tackle the race

Meerkats, chimney sweeps, a Viking boat and the Tweenies were among the colourful sights which lit up Longridge for the annual Boxing Day Pram Race.

In total, 64 teams, made up of 404 participants, took part in the annual tradition.

The race was set off from the Old Oak pub by the town’s Mayor Rose Adamson, her consort John Adamson and Longridge Field Day Queen Naomi Readman.

And first back were the Longridge Young Farmers team.

They raised £50 which will be donated to the motor neurone charity.

The Camelot Crusaders won the fancy dress prize, with the Viking boat second. Field Day secretary Joan Potter said: “It all went very well.”
