The newly refurbished emergency department at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary will be officially re-opened this month.
The department has undergone substantial work including the development of a new Minor Injuries Unit that allows staff to see more patients with five extra examination rooms, a waiting area, nurse base, clean utility and store.
It also streamlines the treatment of patients, meaning the parts of the department designed to specifically focus on major trauma patients can do so.
The refurbishment has also included a significantly enhanced reception area, where patients and visitors book into the department, improved disabled facilities, a new porch area for ambulances and a new relatives room.
The £1.5m scheme has been completed as part of the overall plan in just over 13 months.
The official opening will take place on Friday October 25 at 2.15pm.
