An OAP was taken to hospital after a car crash in Heysham.

Police were called to the scene outside The Duke of Rothesay pub on Rothesay Road at 12pm on Thursday.

The car, a blue Chevrolet Matiz SX, had crashed into the wall of a property on the street.

An 87-year-old man was treated at the scene for chest pains and was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Police said it was unclear if he had fallen ill at the wheel or suffered chest injuries in the crash.

A road block was set up on the port side of the road, meaning traffic to the port had to be diverted.

The traffic disruption was said to be easing an hour after the crash.
