Internet users in Lancashire have been encouraged to raise money for charity simply by logging on to the web.
According to a YouGov poll 38% of people in Preston and Lancashire do not donate to charity but an Internet search engine has given them the chance to raise money while they surf.
The search engine www.Everyclick.
com donates half its revenue to charity at no cost to the user.
Xmas gifts for soldiers
A charity is set to bring festive cheer to troops from a Lancashire regiment.
Support Our Soldiers, the national charity set up to help members of the armed forces serving abroad, has launched its annual Xmas Parcel Appeal.
The Internet-based charity will be sending Christmas parcels to soldiers over the festive period.
Around 550 troops from the 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, which flies out to Basra next month, will receive gifts.
The closing date for parcels and donations is November 30.
The future is in your hands
Residents are being invited to have their say on future land use in the Ribble Valley.
Their views are sought for Ribble Valley Council's local development framework – a portfolio of
documents setting out
future planning and development.
The strategy will establish the guidelines used to
assess planning applications, taking into account factors such as employment, housing, the environment, historic buildings and the creation of communities.
Questionnaires are available online at www.ribblevalley.gov.uk or from the council offices in Church Walk, Clitheroe, as well as local libraries and stores.
Countryside ghost walks
People of Wyre will be walking with ghosts this Halloween.
Wyre Council's coast and countryside team is running a Halloween event on Saturday in the Eagland Hill district of Pilling, starting with indoor fun like apple bobbing before moving outside for a spooky night walk in the countryside.
The event, which runs from 5.30pm to 8pm, costs 4 per person and is designed for both adults and children. Booking essential.

Last chance to see festival
An innovative Lancashire arts festival is set to enter its final few days.
The Velocity event, organised by Lancaster-based digital arts company folly, has already seen musicians on north Lancashire's trains and a range of artworks in Lancaster and Carnforth.
The digital-inspired installations continue until November 3, when the festival will culminate with a finale involving Lancaster's Ludus Dance company.

Clean up with new contest
The search has begun to find the best cleaner in
Lancashire, who will have the chance to be crowned national cleaning champion.
Nominations for the Miele Cleaner of Excellence Award 2007 must be received by November
10 and the best candidate in the region will have the chance to be crowned
national champion and
win 1,000 of Miele goods.

School's out for approval
County planning officers have advised councillors to okay plans to demolish class-rooms at a Lancashire school.
The development control committee are recommended to approve the building of 10 new classrooms and a library at Heysham Trumacar primary school when they meet on October 31.
A new car park, disabled ramps, play areas and fencing are also planned at the Combermere Road school.
Time to help terminally ill?
A cancer care charity is looking for volunteers for its shop in Kirkham.
Marie Curie in Market Square needs helpers to serve customers, sort and price goods and arrange window displays.
The shop raises funds to provide nurses who care for terminally ill people in their own homes in the area.
Shop manager Sharon Horne said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of terminally ill people and their families."

Give us a pint for Christmas
Blood donors are being urged to give a life-saving gift before Christmas at a donor session in Preston.
People can give blood in the Avenham Suite at the Guild Hall from 2pm-4pm and 5.30pm-7.30pm on November 6.
Rachel Hollingworth of the National Blood Service said: "In previous years stocks have dipped by as much as 10% in December.
"If people know that as Christmas approaches they'll find it difficult to make it to a blood donation session, we'd like them to think about donating now."
Gift of art is a fund-raiser
Lancashire artists have donated artwork to an exhibition to raise money for a patient care charity.
The exhibition for Sue Ryder Care will be held at the BBC's open centre in Blackburn from November 3 to 15. The charity has shops in Bamber Bridge and Garstang.
