Highway issues for local police

POLICE in Longridge are investigating reports of motorbikes being ridden carelessly in Wellbrow Drive and Chaigley Road.

They have also vowed to deal with parking obstructions affecting Market Place and Mersey Street at all times of day and night.

Riding club help

COUNTY Coun Malcolm Barron approved a Local Member Grant of £200 for the Leisure Lakes Riding For The Disabled Group, which will be spent on various equipment to help disabled riders.

House passed

A FIVE-bedroomed house with a garage will be built on land at 9 Moss Lane, New Longton, after plans were passed by South Ribble Council.

Caravan fire

A CARAVAN at the rear of a house in Coppull Road, Chorley, was destoyed by fire at 8.20pm on Sunday. The cause is under investigation.

Fostering team

INFORMATION about Lancashire’s 1,300 children in need of foster carers will be available from charity Community Foster Care, which is pitching up alongside stall holders at the Great Eccleston Show on July 12 and 13.

Staff will be on hand for two days to answer questions.

Animal magic

CUERDEN Valley Park will host an animal magic event this weekend.

On Sunday July 13, visitors to the park at Berkeley Drive, Bamber Bridge, can meet animals including birds of prey and llamas in and around the orchard. Pond dipping, crafts are also available between 11am and 3pm.

Youth accused of hurting dog

A YOUTH is expected to appear in court accused of swinging a dog by its tail and banging its head on the ground in an incident on April 24.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also accused of threatening a man and intimidating a witness but denies all three offences.

He will appear at Preston Magistrates Court for trial on August 4.

Boat death accused in dock

A MAN accused of the manslaughter of a Leyland schoolgirl and her mum will appear before Carlisle Crown Court on September 1.

Matthew Eteson, 40, of Church Road, Leyland, was charged with manslaughter by gross negligence following the deaths of Kelly Webster, 36, and Lauren Thornton, 10, on a boat at Lake Windermere.
