A new weekly market starts tomorrow under Preston’s newly-restored Grade II listed Fish Market canopy.
Council bosses are urging people to head to the market to sell a range of items including antiques, crafts, food, collectables and furniture, or to browse what’s on offer.
Coun Peter Rankin, leader of Preston Council, said: “The Fish Market canopy provides a great location for a Sunday Market - offering cover from the elements, ensuring people can sell their wares whatever the weather.
“Introducing this new Market complements the existing outdoor offer, growing Preston Markets as a whole and adds another element to the Markets Quarter project.
“The Harris Museum also launches their new opening times this weekend, which includes Sundays.
“This, coupled with the new market, will hopefully bring more life to this part of the city on Sundays.”
Anybody interested in booking a stall is asked to contact the markets office at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01772 906048.
Stalls are available at the introductory price of £5, including a table.
The market will be open from 8am until about 3pm, with set-up from 7am.
The Fish Market has just been given a £385,000 facelift.
The refurbished canopy was unveiled in May as the first phase in a project to regenerate the Markets Quarter.
