Lancashire’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Isaac Hitchen Project has announced that it has a new specific helpline number which will be staffed from January 6.

The new helpline will be staffed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am till midday for anyone requiring support on any lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans issues.

The new number is helpline number 01772 900260.

The existing office number 01772 717461 will continue as the main number for general inquiries about the project, during office hours.

Lewis Turner, project manager, said: “We often receive calls from lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans individuals needing personal support, but until now we have not had the capacity to offer dedicated times when a member of staff can be available to offer this kind of support. We hope that this development will encourage more people to call us and receive support using the new helpline number at the times the service is available.”

In 2012 Lancashire LGBT was awarded a grant from the Big Lottery Fund Reaching Communities programme.
