The 56-year-old, who has been a Christian minister for almost 30 years, was born in Scotland and studied at the Free Church of Scotland College from 1983 to 1987. His first pastorate was in Darlington, County Durham, at the Geneva Road Evangelical Baptist Church. He was pastor there for 15 years until 2002.He then served as Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, before moving to Preston. He said: “A number of factors led to my receiving a call to the North Preston church. “I had been praying about returning to the UK; the North Preston church was looking for a new pastor; I had the opportunity to visit for a couple of weekends a year ago and I then returned for a third visit in the summer with my wife. The upshot was a call to the pastorate and the decision to accept. Leaving the congregation in Carlisle PA was difficult but we have been warmly welcomed by the North Preston congregation. I am settling in well to my new ministry and it is a real delight to be back in England. Through my preaching, prayers, and pastoral care I hope to be an instrument in God’s hand for the spiritual blessing of people dear to his heart.”
