A major refurbishment of a Penwortham Post Office will get underway next month
The Penwortham Hill Post Office, in Liverpool Road, will close for refurbishment on June 3 and reopen on Monday June 16 at 1pm.
The new Post Office will be a new main-style open-plan branch with longer opening hours.
Post Office Area Manager Alan Currie said: “We understand how important Post Office services are to the people of Penwortham and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
He added: “This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
The refurbished Penwortham Hill Post Office will have four serving positions. One will be screened, two will be open plan and the other will be a Post Office serving point at the retail counter where most Post Office transactions can be made throughout shop opening hours.
Customers will also benefit from Car Tax renewal being added to the wide range of Post Office services on offer.
Opening hours at the modernised branch will be 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, offering customers an extra hour of Post Office service every Saturday afternoon.
Customers are advised to use nearby branches in Cop Lane and Theatre Street while the work is carried out.
