Dr Sasalu Deepak is based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary but also conducts clinics at Furness Hospital in Barrow-in-Furness and also works at Blackpool Teaching Hospital.

Dr Deepak said: “Patients do have to travel to a tertiary centre for specialist treatment, but I want to talk to local GPs to put into place systems and processes to ensure that patients only travel where it is necessary and where possible they are seen locally.

“The area is a fantastic place to work and live and I look forward to using my specialist training and knowledge to benefit local patients.”

George Nasmyth, medical director says the service the appointment will lessen the need to rely on locum doctors.
