A Longridge resident is organising a starter meeting to launch a local branch of the self-help organisation, University of the Third Age.
Barbara Green, who began a group of the nationally known U3A when she lived in West Lothian,Scotland, got together with like-minded friends to start one for Longridge.
She said: “It’s exciting news for those in the Longridge area who are no longer in full-time employment.
“The initial meeting will be at Longridge Civic hall on Wednesday January 29 at 2pm.
“Everyone is welcome to attend.”
She explained that with the closure of many adult education classes and the rising costs for many leisure and creative activities, U3A offered a really good ‘do it yourself’ opportunity.
More details are available from Longridge Library.
