Charity Age Concern Central Lancashire has launched a new social group in Chorley for members of the older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community.
Called Older & Out Chorley, the group will run twice a month at Homestart, 112A Market Street, Chorley.
Eventually it is hoped that the group will hold more regular meetings and social activities in and around Lancashire, and although primarily aimed at LGBT people aged 50 and over, the social group is welcoming to ‘straight allies’ of all ages.
Group coordinator Drew Dewing-Drake said: “As part of our support services we provide one-to-one befriending service to the more isolated members of the community, a helpline and a range of volunteering opportunities.
“We also provide free older LGBT awareness training to any care providers working with older people across Lancashire.”
