Music lovers flock to charity concert

The skyline above Lancashire was lit up for one of the county's biggest charity concerts.

More than 3,000 music lovers packed into Hoghton Tower for the Symphony at the Tower concert in aid of St Catherine's Hospice.

The Northern Chamber Orchestra Symphonia provided musical entertainment alongside soloist Richard Coxon as the audience enjoyed evening picnics.

Events manager Barbara Conroy said: "The music was wonderful and the fireworks were absolutely spectacular."

The event, which has run for the last 13 years, has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the Lostock Hall centre, which offers palliative care for cancer and terminally ill patients.
