Preston MP Mark Hendrick has met with staff and users of the Foxton Centre.

He said: “It was heart-warming to see such a fantastically well run centre in the heart of the city with so many caring individuals dedicated to obliterate homelessness from our city.

“The sad reality is that we still have many people sleeping rough on our streets, but I am encouraged by the good work that is being carried out by the centre’s dedicated workers and volunteers.

“ The centre also undertakes fantastic work with young people and sex workers.”

Located in Knowsley Street, Avenham, the centre has been operating for over 40 years and works primarily with the city’s homeless people as well as street sex workers, young people and people with alcohol dependence.

Over 30 volunteers are working on 12 schemes.
