Motorway blocked as firefighters tackle blazing lorry
The northbound carriageway of the M6 motorway near Preston was closed by police tonight after a fire involving a lorry.
Traffic was halted while firefighters tackled the blaze on the hard shoulder near to junction 31 at Samlesbury.
Queues stretched back down to junction 28 at Leyland.
The incident also had a kock-on effect on the M61 northbound carriageway which was jammed back to Clayton Brook.
A police spokesman said all traffic on the M6 was being held while firefighters dealt with the blaze, which could be seen from miles away.
