Mother-of-three receives suspended jail term

A mother-of-three who fraudulently obtained more than £17,000 in tax credits has received a suspended jail term.

Tracy Parkinson claimed tax credits over a four-year period from the Inland Revenue stating her live-in partner was not working, despite the fact he was working.

Parkinson, 40, of Whitmore Drive, Ribbleton, pleaded guilty to four charges of providing false details.

Judge Anthony Russell QC gave Parkinson a 26-month jail term, suspended for 18 months.
