A man has been arrested in Morecambe’s Arndale Centre and charged with grooming following an online sting by a team of parents known as Internet Interceptors.

Police were called at 11.20am on Tuesday June 14 to the shopping centre following reports a man had been detained by several members of the public.

Officers attended and arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of grooming.

Arthur Peter Douglas, of Westgate, Morecambe, was charged with grooming and appeared at Lancaster Magistrates’ Court this morning June 15.

No plea was entered and he was given conditional bail to appear at Preston Crown Court on July 15.
