Flying: Performers from the Moscow State Circus who will be wowing the crowds in Prestons Moor Park

The Moscow State Circus is backflipping and catapulting its way to Preston next month.

A mammoth cast of Russia’s greatest and most talented circus artistes will transform Moor Park into Park Gorkogom - the centre of Moscow’s cultural and artistic quarter, from Tuesday, April 9 to Sunday, April 14.

Superstar Clowns Splendid Pavlik and Klava will reminisce with the audience about past times Moscow, surrounded by flying, juggling and roller skating performers.

Councillor James Hull, champion for Arts and Culture at Preston Council, said: “It’s fantastic news that a very famous circus is coming to Preston, it will be a great boom for the wealth economy, especially if we get people from outside the area coming in.

“We have got to build on the legacy of last year’s Guild with things like this.

“Manchester and Liverpool have really kicked on with the arts and it’s had a huge benefit to them, because it’s a way of levering in economic drivers.”

Leader of Preston Council, Councillor Peter Rankin, said: “It should another event that helps to boost Preston as an attraction.”

The show will feature a flying trapeze, whirlwind roller skating, bathing beauties on a revolving ariel ring and vertical pole jugglers.

This is in stark contrast to elegant hand balancing and gracious ariel sailing.

The show revs up again to show Kozak whip crackers and a revolving Russian swing catapulting its 10 strong troupe high into the air.
