A meeting will be held on Tuesday over fracking firm Cuadrilla’s plans to move up to 25 lorries a day through Broughton crossroads.

Residents will gather at the Broughton Inn from 7pm, and officers from Lancashire County Council are also expected to attend.

The firm, which hopes to extract shale gas at Roseacre Wood near Elswick, originally wanted a two-way traffic flow of HGVs running from Roseacre Wood south to the A583 junction at Clifton.

But after planners raised concerns about traffic movement through Wharles, revised plans to bring traffic through Broughton and Woodplumpton were launched instead.

Residents have raised a number of safety concerns, but Cuadrilla said it would not have any significant impact on the road network.
