Meatloaf tribute act in battle with hero

Defiant Meat Loaf tribute rocker Dean Torkington is refusing to budge – after getting a ticking off from the American star.

Dean, who has performed as Meat Loaf for 13 years, got a shock when he was invited to see his real life hero backstage – only to be told the lettering on his very own motorhome was too much of a Dead Ringer for the real Meat's own luxury tour bus and it would have to go.

Dean, from Euxton, duly obliged and forked out 1,000 for a new paint job. But now Dean has been told his website – www.meatloaf. org – may have to go because it is too similar to the official Meat Loaf website – www.meatloaf.net – and could confuse fans.

Now Dean, who tours the country under the name To Hell and Back, is going nose-to-nose with the Texas rock god.

He said the problem first surfaced last year when he was sat in the front row of a Meat Loaf concert in Liverpool when a man dressed in black handed him a note saying that the American singer wanted to meet him backstage.

"I had met him on two previous occasions, which were absolutely fantastic, but when I went backstage his manager ushered me into a room," he said.

"He said that he had seen our motorhome, that we use as a tour bus, parked on the car park, and Meat Loaf wasn't happy that we had used his lettering to decorate the side of the van and he told me that we had to remove it."

"Then Meat Loaf's manager questioned me about using the website domain that I have.I told him that I would change the van but there was no way they were taking my website as I have had it for 15 years and it is really popular.

Meat Loaf's management team declined to comment.
