FIVE life-saving defibrillators will be provided across the Fylde thanks to funds raised by a Mayor.
Coun Heather Speak was Fylde’s Mayor until May this year and she raised nearly £19,000 for the Mayoral Fund, £6,500 will be spent on defibrillators to help heart-attack victims.
She said: “I’m hoping that the ambulance crews will find central locations in each of St Annes, Lytham, Kirkham, Warton and Freckleton for the defibs. They really can be lifesavers and there are hundreds, probably thousands, of people around today who would have died without a defib.
“The Mayoral Fund volunteers really were superb and I’d like to place my thanks on record.” Each of the defibrillators costs £1,000 each. Extra costs will be incurred in training users and in providing protective cases for each piece of equipment.
